We did today's reading for 3 Nephi 30 but it was so short we overachieved & read 4 Nephi as well.
I'm reading a book called "How the Mighty Fall" by Jim Collins. It's about huge corporations like Motorola, Fannie Mae, Merrill Lynch, etc. Who were so successful they never thought they could ever fail, yet they did. They looked healthy on the outside yet inside were on their way down to failure & bankruptcy.
Reading 4 Nephi we read about the Nephites who were so righteous that they became very wealthy & prosperous do to their righteousness. Just like many succesful corporations their pride & aura of "I'm great because of this..." brought down to failure & they fell back into sin & iniquity.
When we're on top of the world & things are going well is when we need to be most hungry & anxious to do the small things that lead to success. I almost now after everything I've been through realize how much more important it is to be really cautious & to continually focus on the small & simple things that bring spiritual & physical prosperity more so than when we weren't prosperous.
