The Lord picked a righteous king that would not burden his people by seeking after worldly things and place a tax upon them. If we only had leaders today that would not impose themselves upon the people but be servants of the people we would be a better nation for it and we in turn would give of self more willingly. Benjamin was interested in the temporal needs of his people but more importantly in the spiritual needs of his flock. This nation was set apart so that it would bring forth the book of Mormon in the latter days and it has become a beacon to the World. It's people should never lose sight of this calling, to be an elect people of God relying upon His mercy and love.
