"My soul delighteth in the scriptures.....and my heart pondereth"
"rejoice oh my heart" "deliver me out the hands of mine enamies"
I wish that I could see chapter 4 re-enacted in a play. I think that one day when I am home alone I will fall on my knees and plead to the Lord how I though Nephi did in this chapter. It is so beautiful how he rejoices, agonizes, and pleads forgiveness. How can he have such agony and joy at the same time. This chapter is very poetic but powerful and one of my favorites. I think I have felt as nephi did in this chapter time and time again. And then after spending much time repenting....I have rejoice in a very similar manner. Those are life changing moments when your pour out your heart verbally to your Father in Heaven. Nothing can be more personal or powerful.
once again, they tried to kill nephi. Can you imagine teaching your people how to build with oar, gold, silver, steel and many other natural things. Nephi was so talented. i think if I could compare him to anyone today it would be don. That's right Don Fry. I think that he would be so talented, strong and couragous to be like Nephi. Nephi taught them the importance of laboring and being industrious. He was an amazing leader. Insomuch that they wanted him to be king but he refused the great responsibility. He knew it was not of God.
Oh...and they built a temple. I wish I could have seen what they built.
He continued to teach and those who did not hearken were cursed with a black skin. they were caused to be loathsum and the seeds that mixed with their seeds were to be cursed. They became idle and bitter.
It is incredible to me that a bitter heart can be a prelude to such sadness and destruction. Beware of the bitter and prideful heart because it will truly destroy the best of people!!!!!! Even me, lol
Savanah, that was beautifully put. I love reading your thoughts on the scriptures!!! It makes me feel so much closer to you even though you are thousands of miles away.
